Child Development & EYFS Practice

1. Deliver high‑quality learning in line with the EYFS, contributing to planning, implementation and evaluation.
2. Provide stimulating, age‑appropriate activities that support all areas of development indoors and outdoors.
3. Maintain accurate observations, assessments and learning journals.
4. Support children with SEND and adapt practice to meet individual needs.

Key Person Duties

5. Act as key person for a small group of children, building positive relationships with families.
6. Share regular progress updates and attend Parent Evenings.
7. Handle all information with sensitivity and confidentiality.

Safeguarding, Health & Safety

8. Safeguard children at all times following nursery policies and statutory requirements.
9. Ensure a safe, secure environment and supervise children effectively.
10. Support hygiene routines, cleanliness, meals and snack times.
11. Follow policies on behaviour management, food safety, confidentiality and code of conduct.

Teamwork & Professional Standards

12. Work collaboratively to create a welcoming, inclusive environment.
13. Role‑model best practice and support new staff where required.
14. Participate in team meetings, supervisions and ongoing CPD.
15. Promote positive relationships with children, families, colleagues and visitors.
16. Reflect the diversity of the community in activities and interactions.

Additional Responsibilities

17. Support with setting up, maintaining and tidying resources and play areas.
18. Undertake light cleaning tasks as part of daily routines.
19. Carry out any reasonable duties requested by the Nursery Manager or Deputy.

Person Specification

Essential

20. Level 3 Early Years qualification.
21. Experience supporting children with SEND.
22. Strong understanding of EYFS and child development.
23. Experience working with young children in a nursery environment.
24. Ability to plan and deliver engaging learning opportunities.
25. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
26. Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality.
27. Friendly, enthusiastic and professional attitude.
28. Smart, professional appearance.

Desirable

29. Paediatric First Aid qualification.
30. Knowledge of safeguarding best practice.
