Building Surveyor – Role Overview
Barker Associates is an award‑winning, multi‑disciplinary property consultancy offering Architecture, Design, Project Management, Surveying, Engineering and Energy and Sustainability services across the UK. Our ethos of sustainability informs every project from concept to completion.
The position is based at our Birmingham office; hybrid working may be available subject to business needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with building condition surveys and produce clear, insightful reports for clients.
* Support preparation of tender documentation – drawings, specifications and schedules of work.
* Assist with tender submissions, contractor analysis and drafting of JCT construction contracts.
* Take part in pre‑contract briefings and ensure smooth project handovers with the team.
* Carry out regular site inspections to monitor quality, progress and health & safety compliance.
* Attend client and project meetings, representing the business with professionalism and technical confidence.
* Travel to sites and client locations as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
* A relevant degree or strong working experience.
* Experience working with AutoCAD.
* Working towards or hoping to achieve RICS Chartership.
This role requires a full clean driving licence with access to your own vehicle and will be subject to a DBS Enhanced check.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm.
