Overview
The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking to appoint 2 x Locum Fixed Term Consultants in Plastic Surgery. These posts are for 2 Locum Consultant Plastic Surgeons with an interest in microsurgery, breast reconstruction, skin cancer and hands. These are locum posts initially for a 12-month fixed term contract in the Musculoskeletal & Specialist Surgery Clinical Management Group (MSS CMG) with the majority of services based at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Northampton General Hospital & Kettering General Hospital, with on-call provision at Leicester Royal Infirmary. This is part of UHL & UHN work to strengthen the medical workforce and improve sustainability within our teams.
This is an exciting step forward that strengthens UHL and UHN, while maintaining flexibility and choice for colleagues and supporting our shared responsibility to deliver high-quality care in a challenging environment.
Responsibilities
* Cover for colleagues’ annual leave and other authorised absences where job plans allow
* Participate in service development and business planning in collaboration with other Consultants in the department, the management and CMG, along with local GPs and commissioners within the CCGs
* Provide professional supervision and management of junior medical staff, including observation of local employment and human resource policies and procedures
* Carry out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contribute to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activity, locally and nationally
* Respond in a timely manner to legitimate requests from Trust officers, including investigations into incidents or complaints
* Participate in professional continuing medical education; study leave is provided for this purpose
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience and expertise in microsurgery, breast reconstruction, skin cancer management (including sentinel lymph node biopsy), and hand trauma. Fellowship training in one or more of these areas would be highly desirable.
