Job Description
Teacher of Craft, Design and Technology
The Royal High School
Salary: £33,594 - £50,589
Hours: 35 per week
We are seeking an inspirational and passionate teacher of Craft, Design and Technology to join the CDT department at The Royal High School.
The Royal High School is one of the oldest schools in Scotland, known for its rich history and commitment to innovation. It is a non-denominational, 6-year comprehensive school, drawing students from four primary schools: Blackhall, Clermiston, Cramond, and Davidson's Mains.
The school was inspected by HMIE in December 2022.
The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) includes the Headteacher, four Depute Headteachers, and the Business Manager. The current teaching staff comprises 100 FTE teachers and 21 FTE support staff, including Pupil Support Assistants, who aid in student integration. The school has an integrated Additional Support for Learning Team, combining guidance and support for learning, along with our Enhanced Support and Wellbeing Bases.
Facilities were refurbished in 2004, providing high-standard accommodation, though social areas are limited. Teaching spaces are tightly scheduled and extensively used outside school hours by the community. The school is a designated Community Sports Hub; PE facilities were upgraded in 2015. An active extracurricular program offers various opportunities for student participation. Due to increasing enrollment, the school has six huts in the playground, with a new extension opening in Easter 2024.
The school maintains positive relationships with parents, local businesses, and the community. The Parent Council and Fundraising Group are integral to school life, with active participation and lively discussions. The school also benefits from an active Former Pupils' Club.
