The Maintenance Manager is a member of the Plant Management Team and has full accountability for maintenance activities.
This position supervises a local team of mechanics, line technicians, and cleaning room operators across three shift operations.
Key activities for this position include leading maintenance and reliability processes focused on achieving operational excellence, developing and implementing strategies to enhance the skills of our maintenance team, and improving maintenance capabilities to increase equipment reliability and reduce repair and maintenance costs.
The role also involves driving Canadian Supply Chain strategies and continuous improvement objectives, collaborating closely with the Project Engineer Team and technical personnel to develop training and assessment programs, and impacting safety, quality, profitability, efficiency, OEE, cost management, customer satisfaction, innovation, and LEAN methodologies.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Maintenance Reliability/Predictive Maintenance (75%)
* Support setting directions and monitoring maintenance reliability KPIs.
* Lead root cause failure analysis efforts.
* Collaborate with maintenance staff to develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance programs, including computerized systems.
* Identify and prioritize predictive maintenance programs suitable for wet operations.
* Address technical issues raised by production, developing and maintaining work order processes.
Manufacturing Execution
* Coordinate daily maintenance support for manufacturing operations.
* Manage all maintenance functions related to manufacturing to meet operational plans.
* Ensure plant shutdowns facilitate regulatory inspections and on-time repairs.
Department Budgeting
* Monitor and manage the maintenance department's expenses.
* Optimize labor and material usage for effectiveness.
Strategic Planning with Project Engineer Team
* Develop and review long-term strategies for expenses and capital initiatives.
* Contribute to the strategic capital plan for the facility.
* Build a competent and efficient maintenance team, ensuring they have necessary tools and resources.
2. Continuous Process Improvement (20%)
* Establish and execute departmental objectives aligned with site and corporate goals.
* Manage CI efforts to eliminate recurring issues and improve efficiency.
* Identify and implement small capital improvements.
3. Health and Safety (at all times)
* Promote initiatives to reduce TIR results.
* Participate in developing site EAS objectives.
* Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
4. Special Projects (5%)
* Undertake special projects as assigned by the Manager.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
* Education: Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related discipline; P. Eng licensed.
* Experience: Minimum 5 years in plant engineering or maintenance; budget management experience; familiarity with TPM tools, plant reliability, and predictive maintenance.
