Role overview:
* Ensure machines operate at full capacity without issues, quickly identifying and resolving breakdowns. This role involves shift work.
Responsibilities:
* Operate HDPE blow moulding and related equipment, including packing tables, leak detectors, metal detectors, conveyor systems, and granulators.
* Maintain smooth production line operation by troubleshooting and correcting issues to meet volume and quality targets.
* Perform calculations to ensure weights and measures align with customer specifications.
* Adjust machines to correct errors during bottle production.
* Accurately report problems and complete necessary paperwork.
* Ensure machines operate efficiently to optimize material use and minimize waste.
* Conduct visual and physical quality assessments to ensure products meet specifications.
* Carry out preventative maintenance to maintain machine efficiency and product quality.
* Perform standard machine changes, including material feeds, color, gas, neck, and profile adjustments.
* Apply problem-solving techniques and make process adjustments as needed.
* Work effectively within a team, mentoring packers as required.
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping in compliance with Food Packaging Industry Standards.
* Adhere to safe working practices at all times.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on production efficiency, quality, and health and safety.
Education & Experience:
* Background in engineering, fitting, or mechanics.
* Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
* At least 5 GCSEs including Maths and English, grades C/5 or above.
Knowledge & Skills:
* Experience in a plastics manufacturing or similar fast-paced environment.
* Mechanical maintenance skills such as belt changes, pneumatic controls, changeovers, tool changes, and machine setups.
