Our client, Yamazaki Mazak, is a leading global manufacturing company based in Worcester. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a market‑leading Machine Tool manufacturer that has been at the forefront of the industry for many years. This role is a hands‑on leadership position responsible for supporting and guiding both the Laser Section and Press Section teams. The role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight schedules.
Operational Support
* Lead and support the Laser and Press teams with technical expertise and high‑level skill set.
* Respond immediately to machine breakdowns and stoppages.
* Carry out predictive, preventative, and reactive maintenance on laser machines and presses.
* Maintain machine cleanliness and ensure optimal performance.
* Keep the Production Supervisor informed of progress and issues.
Process and Quality
* Ensure quality gateways are completed to the highest standard.
* Support weekly power‑off plans, including achievement and recovery strategies.
* Drive improvements in standard times and reduce process waste.
* Support root‑cause investigations for internal and external customer complaints.
Leadership and Training
* Provide on‑the‑job training and coaching to team members.
* Hold daily SQDCP meetings, collating and monitoring KPIs.
* Plan, improve, and record team performance using visualization and effective communication techniques.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase utilisation and performance.
* Liaise with supply and customer sections regarding kit and parts availability.
* Work closely with other departments to ensure schedules are met.
Health and Safety
* Report and monitor general Health and Safety issues within the area.
* Ensure compliance with company safety standard.

* Rotating shift working hours: 05:30 AM–01:30 PM Monday to Friday, 02:00 PM–10:30 PM Monday to Thursday, and 02:00 PM–08:00 PM Friday.
Essential Criteria
* Strong technical knowledge of laser machines (fiber laser experience advantageous) and press operations.
* Ability to read technical drawings.
* Good computer literacy and competence in Microsoft AX.
* Determination to achieve schedules and meet deadlines.
* Ability to learn new processes quickly and work under pressure.
* Excellent problem‑solving skills, including fault finding and diagnosis.
* Commitment to quality and safety.
Desirable Criteria
* Proactive and hands‑on approach.
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
* ILM Level 3 qualification or willingness to work toward one (training provided).
* Experience in predictive, preventative and reactive maintenance.
* Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
