Overview
Purpose of the Role: To deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment in Law and Criminology across Level 2-3 programmes, supporting 16-19 learners to achieve their academic and career goals.
Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging lessons in Law and Criminology
* Teach across topics such as Criminal Law, Civil Law, Crime & Deviance, and the Criminal Justice System
* Deliver BTEC / Applied Law / Criminology qualifications
* Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching resources
* Assess student work and provide timely, constructive feedback
* Track learner progress and implement intervention strategies where required
* Support learners with academic and pastoral needs
* Maintain accurate records using college systems (e.g. registers, progress tracking)
* Contribute to curriculum development and quality improvement
* Participate in team meetings, standardisation, and CPD activities
Requirements
* Degree in Law, Criminology, or related subject
* Teaching qualification (PGCE / Cert Ed / AET) or willingness to work towards
* Experience teaching in FE or secondary education (preferred)
* Strong subject knowledge in Law and/or Criminology
* Understanding of safeguarding and working with 16-19 learners
* Excellent communication and classroom management skills
Desirable
* Experience delivering BTEC or Applied Law/Criminology qualifications
* Industry or professional background within legal or criminal justice sectors
* Experience supporting diverse learners and promoting inclusive practice
