Are you organised, hands-on, and experienced in managing stock and materials? We are looking for a Materials Planner to join a well-established manufacturing business in Leicester. This Materials Planner opportunity offers the chance to work across material planning, stock management, and shipping, supporting both UK and EU operations.
As a Materials Planner, you will play a key role in managing inventory and ensuring materials are available to meet production forecasts. The Materials Planner will oversee the stores, coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments, including dangerous goods and ensure all processes run smoothly and efficiently.
This Materials Planner position would suit someone who enjoys being organised, takes pride in accuracy, and has experience in a busy warehouse or manufacturing environment. The Materials Planner will work closely with production, and quality teams to keep materials moving and maintain high standards of compliance and safety.
Key responsibilities of the Materials Planner role:
Managing stock levels and planning materials against forecast
Overseeing the stores and organising incoming and outgoing shipments
Coordinating UK and EU deliveries, including handling dangerous goods
Maintaining accurate records of stock movements and material usage
Working with SAP or similar ERP systems to update stock and manage orders
Ensuring the warehouse and stores meet health, safety, and compliance standards
Operating or coordinating the use of counterbalance and reach trucks (licence or experience preferred)
The ideal Materials Planner candidate will have:
Previous experience as a Materials Planner, in stores management, or in a warehouse/production environment
Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
Knowledge of stock management and forecasting
Experience handling shipping and logistics, including dangerous goods
Counterbalance and reach truck licence or experience (preferred)
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
A proactive, hands-on approach to keeping operations running smoothly
