You will be working for an authority in the West Midlands region who aim to create a more prosperous, fairer, greener and healthier environment for the local area. This authority is working on and managing the design side of new tram extensions within the Birmingham area, which is a £1.3billion project as a whole. Therefore, you will be working on one of the largest and most intriguing projects in the Birmingham area. Due to the second phase of the project now being awarded, the authority is looking to hire a Construction Manager/Assistant Delivery Manager on a long-term freelance basis.
Your new role
You will be responsible for, but not limited to, supporting Delivery Managers inpleting the tram extension projects and managing the deliverables from contractors under the contract, supporting the contracting delivery team bymunicating with the design team and ensuring necessary challenges are resolved. You will liaise with the Delivery Managers and Programme Leads on a weekly basis to ensure project and budget updates arepleted whilst leading a safer culture within the organisation. Lastly, you will oversee detailed development of the infrastructure project and support Resident Engineers with auditing and ensuring ITPs, quality management and control of output is managed appropriately.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have experience of developing and delivering technicallyplex engineering projects, preferable within Heavy or Light rail or in a similar capacity, such as major highway schemes. Having previous experience as a Clerk of Work or a Construction Manager is desired however not essential. You will also befortable working within an NEC environment which consists of contract management or contractor engagement. Finally, you will have proven technical knowledge of the oversight of design standards and best practice in the development and delivery of rail and highway projects such as track form and alignment, signalling, OHLE, networkmunications or highway construction.
