Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer, AWS Infrastructure Operations
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is currently hiring for an Engineering Technician to support our data centers. The Engineering Technician will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations.
The Data Center Engineering Technician will be responsible for ensuring the overall operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the data center. This equipment supports mission-critical servers and must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. The technician will maintain high reliability and performance while keeping operating costs minimal.
Engineering Technicians are Amazon’s front line for hands-on troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical equipment. They will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot Data Center Mission Critical Facilities, including stand-by diesel generators, fuel systems, three-phase electrical systems (switch gear, UPSs, PDUs, batteries), CRAC units, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, pumps, and motors.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance
* Perform limited maintenance tasks such as filter changes, battery system PMs, and PDU & ATS replacements
* Perform root cause analysis for operational issues
* Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events
* Ensure safety protocols are followed by all personnel on-site
* Work on-call and rotating schedules as needed
* Take daily operational readings and report metrics to senior engineers
* Support ticketing systems, root cause analysis, and task prioritization
A Day in the Life
The technician will ensure the operation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment. Tasks include walking job sites, working at heights, lifting objects up to 40 pounds, and working shifts longer than eight hours.

Minimum Qualifications
* Associates Degree or Technical Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline
* Fluent in English, both written and spoken
* 2+ years in a Data Center or Mission Critical Environment
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline
* 4+ years of Data Center Operation Experience
* Basic knowledge of network design, low voltage cabling, and Microsoft Office tools
