Job Description
New Directions Education is recruiting a Trainee Teacher to support a specialist PMLD school in South Liverpool, working with EYFS and KS1 pupils. The school supports children with profound and multiple learning difficulties, many of whom are non-verbal and require a highly personalised approach to learning.

About the Role
4. Support teaching and learning for EYFS and KS1 pupils with PMLD
5. Work closely with the class teacher to deliver personalised learning activities
6. Support non-verbal communication, including: AAC strategies (PECS, symbols, visual supports) Intensive interaction and sensory-based approaches
7. Assist with sensory, play-based and early developmental learning
8. Support pupils’ social, emotional and physical development
9. Promote engagement, routine and positive behaviour
10. Assist with personal care and moving and handling where required
The Ideal Candidate
11. Aspiring teacher or graduate looking to train in SEND or primary education
12. Passion for supporting children with PMLD and complex needs
13. Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
14. Employment references covering the last 5 years
