Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. NMC Registered Nurse
2. Advanced Diploma/Degree in Adult Health Nursing Studies
Desirable criteria
3. SLIP training/ mentorship course
4. Post registration courses related to the speciality
Experience
Essential criteria
5. Experience of caring for patients with acute and long term conditions
6. Demonstrate clinical experience
Desirable criteria
7. Previous Gastroenterology experience
8. Experience of end of life care
Technical Skills Competencies
Essential criteria
9. Demonstrate ability with vital signs monitoring equipment and ability to recognise the deteriorating patient
10. Experience in complying with nursing, infection control and risk management polices
11. Ability to manage caseload/bay of patients
Desirable criteria
12. Experience of clinical skills such as: ECG recording, CVC, Cannulation and Venepuncture, Male catheterisation
13. Awareness of audit
14. Administration of blood products or willingness to undertake necessary training
15. Specific skills relevant to specialty eg. Caring for ascitic drains
16. Non IV and IV medication administration including administration of blood products
