Trainee Upholsterer required to work for Derry's Ltd an established manufacturer of Bespoke and Contract Furniture, the job description below is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of the company.
Required experience - We are seeking a Trainee Upholsterer, duties include fitting springs/ straps ,cutting and gluing foam, cutting and upholstering leather and fabric for high end sofas and chairs. Attention to detail is crucial. You will have to upholster to very high standards, work under pressure and a team player. Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
Salary negotiable on experience. Permanent position.
Monday to Friday 40 hrs with the option for additional hours throughout the week.
Hours are Mon – Thurs 7.00 am – 4.30 pm Fri 7.00 am – 12,00 Midday
Responsibilities after 3 months
Trainee Upholsterer
Will need to be able to use power tools and have a good eye for detail. Must be able to work without supervision. Will be required to work as part of a small team producing high end bespoke pieces so must be able to use initiative.
* A basic knowledge of Health and Safety procedures within the workplace.
* Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
* Prepare an efficient workstation and organise workload to ensure a quick, smooth workflow.
* Strong attention to detail and quality orientated.
* Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
* Read, interpret, and work to instructions i.e., specifications, standard operating procedures.
* Ability to work as part of an Upholstery production team or individually, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
* Knowledge of a broad variety of styles and types of upholstery.

* Ensure the safe use of machinery in the workplace
* Maintain workspace area in a clean and tidy manner
* Liaising with other departments
* Handling and cutting fabric with care
* Skilled in both modern and traditional techniques.
