Mechanical Engineer
Engineering | On-site | Full-Time | Cambridgeshire
OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and deliver critical hardware systems for advanced engineering applications. This role spans the full product lifecycle—from requirements definition and concept development through detailed design, integration, testing, and production readiness.
Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will contribute to the development of complex mechanical systems, supporting their transition from early-stage prototypes to validated, deployable solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and refine system-level and component-level requirements
* Develop mechanical concepts, including parts, assemblies, and mechanisms, aligned to performance and integration constraints
* Take ownership of design delivery for components and subsystems within larger products
* Perform engineering analysis including hand calculations, simulation, and tolerance studies to support design decisions
* Support prototype build, integration, and verification activities
* Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement efforts
* Assist in transitioning designs from prototype to production, considering manufacturability and reliability
REQUIREMENTS
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline (BEng/MEng or equivalent)
* Demonstrated hands-on experience with complex mechanical systems, including design, prototyping, and testing
* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work from high-level requirements to detailed solutions
* Effective communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
* Experience in fast-paced engineering or R&D environments with rapid iteration cycles
* Background in mechanical system testing, from component-level through full system integration
* Proficiency with CAD tools for 3D design and drafting
* Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems for configuration and data management
* Experience applying systems engineering principles, including risk analysis and failure mode assessment
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
* Competitive salary and performance-based incentives
* Comprehensive health and wellness benefits
* Cycle-to-work or similar commuting support schemes
* On-site amenities and team-oriented work environment
