Job Title: MCERTS Level 2 Stack Tester
Location: Birmingham
Salary: 28,000 - 40,000 (DOE)
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be working in partnership with a leading multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy, renowned for providing high-quality testing, inspection, monitoring, and consultancy services across the UK. Due to continued growth, our client is now looking to appoint an experienced MCERTS Level 2 Stack Tester to join their expanding Stack Emissions Monitoring team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected organisation where you will play a key role in delivering emissions monitoring services, helping clients manage environmental performance and regulatory compliance.
The Role
You will be responsible for monitoring emissions from chimney stacks at industrial and commercial sites across the UK and Europe. The role involves travel, hands‑on testing procedures, data analysis, and contributing to high‑standard technical reporting.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct stack emissions monitoring in accordance with MCERTS standards.
* Produce accurate, clear, and concise technical reports.
* Maintain strong communication with clients during and after site visits.
* Carry out laboratory and analytical work associated with emissions monitoring.
* Work effectively within a team environment to ensure project delivery.
Essential Requirements
* MCERTS Level 2 Stack Testing Qualification, with a minimum of 2 years practical experience.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* GCSEs in English & Maths.
* Competent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
* Willingness to travel and stay away from home for periods of time.
* Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and comfortable working at heights up to 200 feet.
* Experience in report writing, client liaison, and emissions monitoring techniques.
Desirable
* Degree, Certificate, or Further Education qualification in Environmental Science or related field.
* Technical endorsements (achieved or in progress).
