Mechanical Estimator - Dublin
Location: Dublin (regional remit across Ireland) - will require relocation

This is a great opportunity to join a growing estimating function supporting major water, wastewater and mechanical engineering projects across Ireland. You'll play a key role in developing detailed cost models, supporting design development, and ensuring tenders are commercially robust, competitive, and compliant.
What you'll be doing
As Mechanical Estimator, you'll take the lead in producing accurate, detailed and strategically aligned estimates for mechanical works across a regional portfolio.
Estimate Preparation & Cost Modelling
Prepare detailed mechanical estimates based on drawings, early-stage concepts, and specifications
Ensure estimates reflect realistic risk levels and align with internal standards and governance
Develop financial models for framework submissions, including appropriate staff rates and budget alignment
Utilise standard cost coding to support meaningful cost feedback and future tender improvements
Design & Tender Development
Participate in design development, advising on buildability, materials and cost‑effective options
Provide early pricing to support optioneering and tender strategy
Contribute to Tender Preparation and Construction Programmes
Assist in developing tender staff schedules using insights from prior project delivery
Procurement & Supplier Engagement
Work with buyers to form procurement plans and identify key suppliers/subcontractors
Prepare and issue enquiries for materials and subcontract packages
Review quotations, evaluate competitiveness, and negotiate terms and discount structures
Industry Insight & Technical Awareness
Stay up-to-date with new technologies, methods, and mechanical engineering innovations
Apply industry learning to continuously improve estimate accuracy and commercial competitiveness
What you'll bring
We're looking for a detail-driven, commercially aware mechanical professional with a passion for structured estimating.
Experience
Minimum 5 years' experience as a Mechanical Estimator
Background in water, wastewater, M&E, or construction sectors preferred
Proven track record producing accurate, detailed mechanical estimates for complex projects
Skills
Strong analytical mindset with excellent numerical accuracy
Deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles and construction methodologies
Proficiency with estimating software and the full Microsoft Office Suite
Confident communicator able to collaborate effectively with designers, buyers, planners and project teams
Ability to manage workload across multiple tenders and meet tight deadlines
Business levels of English language skills
