The role
As a Senior Document Controller, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll take ownership of document management activities, working independently and often in complex project environments.
Day-to-day, you’ll
1. Accurately register and manage documentation within the Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), including records from Cavendish Nuclear partners, clients, and subcontractors.
2. Ensure all documents comply with required formatting standards, are correctly coded, and follow established checking and approval procedures, including appropriate signature protocols.
3. Distribute documentation for technical review, information sharing, and formal acceptance across relevant stakeholders.
4. Produce clear and timely status reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to support project visibility and progress tracking.
5. Oversee the archiving, closeout, and handover of documentation at project completion, ensuring full compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
6. Where applicable, lead and supervise a team of Document Controllers within a specific project, work scope, or business area, promoting collaboration, consistency, and high standards of performance.
This is a full-time position, working 37 hours per week, based in Warrington, Cheshire. The role follows a hybrid working pattern, with attendance at the office required one to two days per week.
Essential experience of the Senior Document Controller:
7. Proven experience in document control within complex project environments, demonstrating a strong understanding of structured documentation practices.
8. Background in a similar industry sector, with solid knowledge of project documentation processes, including registration, review, approval, and archiving.
9. Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and ensure documentation is accurate, compliant, and delivered on time.
Qualifications for the Senior Document Controller:
10. Familiarity with a range of contracting methodologies, such as the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC), the New Engineering Contract (NEC4), and the Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT), with practical experience applying these within project environments.
11. A Level 4 National Diploma in Business Administration, or equivalent qualifications in records management, or demonstrable relevant experience in a similar role.
