About us

We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled and enthusiastic teacher within our successful, supportive and high performing Maths faculty, where teaching and learning is at the heart of our collaborative practice.

The mathematics department is a dedicated team who enjoy working collaboratively to ensure students have the best possible experience in their lessons. We achieved above average results both GCSE, this year ranking in the top 5% nationally for pass rates based on FFT value added measures. We attract great numbers at post 16, offering A Level Maths, Further Maths and Core Maths and this year secured phenomenal outcomes in all courses. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner and have the enthusiasm to impart a love of Maths on an amazing set of students. They will also have excellent subject knowledge, the ability to teach KS3, KS4 and the passion to develop KS5 practice in time.

The department is extremely stable and this role has become available through a valued colleague looking to embark on a teaching opportunity abroad. The role is suitable for both ECT’s or experienced teachers looking to join a highly successful and ambitious mathematics faculty.

A bespoke CPD programme at Heanor Gate means that tailored support is matched to career stage expectations and individuals continually develop their own professional practice in line with personal priorities.


Trust and culture

Heanor Gate Spencer Academy is an ‘Outstanding’ secondary school and sixth form (Ofsted, June 2023) which is oversubscribed in Year 7 for the second successive year. We are extremely proud of our inspection report which is a testament to 7 years of school improvement. It states that ”teachers are subject experts”, “pupils are ambitious about their future”, “classrooms are calm places, where pupils focus on their learning” and “leaders are relentless in their desire to provide the absolute best education for all pupils and to serve the local community”.

We also have a close working partnership with the Chartered College of Teaching, providing routes into obtaining Chartered status.
