Andrew Moseley Associates is excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Senior/Principal Infrastructure Engineer to join our vibrant and growing team in Leeds.
As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional with strong engineering insight and a commercial mindset—particularly within the private sector. This is a senior-level role, ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality transport planning solutions.
Role Overview:
The Principal Infrastructure Engineer plays a key leadership role in the design and delivery of civil engineering infrastructure for development and strategic projects. With significant technical expertise and project experience, this role is responsible for managing complex schemes, mentoring engineers, and contributing to project delivery, business development, and operational planning. The Principal Engineer acts as a technical authority within the team, helping to ensure quality, compliance, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
·Lead the design and coordination of highways, drainage, earthworks, and utilities infrastructure for a wide range of development-led and infrastructure projects.
·Oversee the preparation and submission of planning and technical documentation, including S38, S104, and S278 applications.
·Provide technical review and assurance across project deliverables, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
·Act as project manager on complex or high-value schemes, including programme management, client liaison, and resource planning.
·Engage directly with local authorities, statutory bodies, and other stakeholders to negotiate approvals and resolve technical issues.
·Mentor and support the development of junior and mid-level engineers, sharing knowledge and overseeing design progression.
·Contribute to internal quality processes, technical standards, and continuous improvement within the infrastructure team.
·Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines (transport planning, flood risk, environmental) to ensure integrated, deliverable, and sustainable infrastructure outcomes.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
·Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
·Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with ICE or an equivalent professional institution.
·Typically 7–10+ years of experience in infrastructure design and delivery, ideally within a consultancy or multi-disciplinary environment.
·Proven experience in leading complex design packages, managing approvals, and delivering coordinated civil infrastructure solutions.
·Advanced proficiency in design and modelling tools, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage.
·Strong working knowledge of UK planning, adoption, and construction processes.
·Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including stakeholder engagement and technical report writing.

For continued development towards Associate or Technical Director level, individuals in this role are encouraged to advance in the following areas:
·Technical Authority: Recognised subject matter expertise with the ability to guide project teams, resolve complex design issues, and influence technical strategy.
·Project & Design Leadership: Full ownership of project delivery from concept through approval and implementation, including task delegation and programme oversight.
·Client & Stakeholder Management: Trusted advisor to clients, with strong relationship-building skills and the ability to represent the company in negotiations and meetings.
·Multidisciplinary Integration: Ability to coordinate with planning, environmental, and commercial teams to align outputs and secure approvals.
·Mentorship & Team Development: Active involvement in mentoring, coaching, and performance development of junior staff.
·Commercial & Strategic Input: Awareness of project budgets, resource planning, and fee structures; involvement in fee proposals and opportunity development.
·Digital Innovation: Support the adoption of digital design workflows, BIM, and data-driven design approaches.
Professional Leadership: Maintain and promote high professional standards, including participation in industry forums, CPD activities, and internal knowledge sharing.
