Advert Relief Library Assistant (Mobile Library Driver), Lewis & Harris £15.38 per hour, inclusive of £1.48 Distant Islands Allowance per hour The post holder will assist in providing a Mobile Library and information service to members of the public and schools. Duties will include driving a Mobile Library vehicle; providing a library and information service to the public in rural areas and the housebound; including the issuing and returning of library materials, reservations and providing assistance as needed; providing a library service to schools, croileagans and playgroups; and maintaining the mobile library in good order through the shelving of materials, shelf-tidying and the organisation and management of stock, including stock rotations, transfers and withdrawals. You must have a good general knowledge and an interest in books and reading. It is essential you have basic mechanical knowledge of motor vehicles. You must have excellent customer care skills to be able to interact with colleagues, the public, teachers and pupils. Experience of driving commercial or goods vehicles is essential along with relevant experience of working with the public in a work or voluntary situation. A full clean C1 Driving Licence is essential. This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme as a legal requirement of a regulated role with Children ( Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme - mygov.scot ). This post is on an as and when basis to cover absences of permanent staff. Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance.
