Qualifications & Skills

Main Responsibilities
* Support/assist People in daily living activities such as washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, and other aspects of personal care.
* Assist in all aspects of care needs (physical, emotional and spiritual) while ensuring dignity and comfort.
* Assist People with limited mobility or physical/learning difficulties using aids provided.
* Monitor People who may be confused or have behavioural problems.
* Promote continence and support people with progressive illnesses, including last offices.
* Maintain written daily records and observe care planning needs.
* Participate in social activities and interact with People to encourage hobbies and activities.
* Answer Nursecall system, respond promptly to messages and pass on information.
* Report under senior care staff supervision on the well-being of People and carry out regular checks.
* Make visitors feel welcome, provide refreshments and assist with beds, cleaning and equipment maintenance.
* Assist with meal times, serving food, setting tables and washing up as required.
* Escort People travelling to and from the Care Home for outings and hospital visits.
* Maintain maximum integrity in handling People’s personal and financial affairs.
* Assist where needed with rearranging bedrooms, moving furniture and beds using safe handling techniques.
Other Duties
* Participate in staff and client meetings as required.
* Attend mandatory training days/courses and relevant N/SVQ training to achieve required qualifications.
* Report illnesses, accidents, and hazards to the Home Manager or Person in Charge.
* Ensure compliance with the Care Home’s Health and Safety policy, emergency and fire procedures.
* Promote safe working practice and uphold the good reputation of the Care Home.
* Maintain confidentiality and ensure information of confidential nature is not divulged to third parties.
* Ensure the security of the Care Home is maintained at all times.
* Adhere to all Company policies and procedures within defined time scales and carry out any other tasks reasonably assigned.
