Sustainability / Environmental Lead – Data Centre Project
A leading international main contractor is seeking a Sustainability / Environmental Advisor to join their team on a major hyperscale data centre development in Newport. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a progressive organisation delivering complex, high-tech projects across the UK and Europe.
The successful candidate will play a key role in driving environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and best practices across the lifecycle of the project.
Responsibilities
* Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental legislation and company standards
* Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
* Support the delivery of sustainability strategies and targets (e.g. BREEAM, circular economy, carbon reduction)
* Advise site teams on environmental and sustainability matters
* Prepare environmental reports and maintain project documentation
* Liaise with clients, local authorities, and third-party stakeholders
* Promote a culture of continuous environmental improvement on-site
Requirements
* A degree or equivalent in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related discipline
* Prior experience working in a similar advisory role within construction
* Knowledge of relevant UK environmental legislation and sustainability frameworks
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Previous experience on data centre or high-tech construction projects is highly desirable
