We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Section Engineer to join our Rail team on the Flitwick / Mill Hill Broadway project supporting the delivery of a range of exciting schemes. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is keen to further develop their skills and take on increasing levels of responsibility.
Responsibilities
* Interpret engineering drawings and specifications and provide technical support to the project team.
* Plan, organise, and supervise site resources to meet programme and contractual requirements.
* Prepare and implement risk assessments, method statements, and inspection and test plans.
* Ensure works are delivered safely, accurately, and in compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
* Set out and check works, arranging independent verification where required.
* Monitor site activities, address non-conformances, and maintain exacting standards of workmanship.
* Communicate effectively with clients, design teams, supply chain, and site supervision.
* Maintain accurate records including site diaries, progress updates, variations, and material orders.
* Manage materials, testing, deliveries, and cost‑coded documentation.
* Support programme planning, progress monitoring, and reporting.
Qualifications
* HNC, HND, BEng, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
* Valid CSCS card.
* Experience in civil engineering construction, ideally within rail and/or structures projects.
* Strong knowledge of construction methods, specifications, and testing regimes.
* Ability to produce, interpret, and explain engineering drawings and technical information.
* Good planning, organisational, and problem‑solving skills.
* Effective supervision and teamwork skills with an initiative‑taking, hands‑on approach.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Competent IT skills, including MS Office and project systems.
* Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and seek guidance when required.
