The opportunity: To manage the Finishing production process and its ancillary operations, meeting customer delivery and quality expectations whilst maximising and continuously improving manufacturing efficiencies and minimising costs.
How you will impact WestRock:
1. Ensuring all personnel work within a safe structure (all safety checks to be documented)
2. Managing projects / organising workloads
3. Effectively managing and developing team members with specific coaching to departmental manager / supervisors
4. Ability to motivate ensuring performance reviews are carried out whilst identifying training requirements / gaps – define optimum organisational structure within the Finishing departments
5. Working closely with Print, C/C & Engineering Manager as well as the Quality Manager to raise overall standards – ensuring consistency of approach within the business
6. Work closely with technical team to understand and implement best practices both within the group & industry
7. Implementing improvements that last – following the DMAIC principle
8. Implementing and driving continuous improvement activities
9. Ensuring customer complaints are bottomed out through a robust structure
10. Driving a culture of not only planned but preventative maintenance
11. To undertake and other duties as required by management
What you need to succeed :
12. Analytical skills, including computer literacy
13. Understanding of Lean practices – SMED/ Kanban systems/ GMP/ JIT /Kaizen events
14. Minimum 5 years management experience in a unionised manufacturing environment
15. People management skills
16. Exposure to change management processes
17. Communication/briefing skills
18. Team building
19. Negotiation/consultation skills
20. Awareness of current SHE and employment legislation/standards
21. Recruitment skills
22. Budget management/cost control awareness.
23. Project management and problem solving skills
24. Written and interpersonal skills and the ability to challenge constructively
