Job Summary
We are inviting applications in the Emergency Medicine Department at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust for Trust doctors at Registrar. The role will be an entirely clinical role at middle grade level within the department and the successful candidate will work with the current team in supporting and developing the department. Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust is heavily invested in providing an excellent Urgent and Emergency Care system for our population. We are looking to recruit motivated and enthusiastic doctors to provide care in the Emergency Departments and/or our Urgent SDEC (uSDEC).
Main duties of the job
* The Emergency Departments at Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary are led by consultants who provide shop-floor cover with additional 24-hour support from Specialty Doctors, Higher Specialty Trainees and ST3+ doctors across both sites.
* There is a consultant-led Trauma Team at Huddersfield designated as a Major Trauma Unit in the West Yorkshire Regional Trauma Network. Both sites have resuscitation bays, paediatric resus area, imaging facilities, and dedicated spaces for families.
* Successful candidates will be involved in the design and delivery of new Emergency Services developments and will have opportunities to develop interests, including entry onto the CESR programme.

Job Details
* Salary: £61,542 to £99,216 per year
* Contract: Permanent

Job Description & Responsibilities
* Clinically and educationally responsible to the Clinical Director for Emergency Care.
* General clinical management of patients attending the Emergency Department and adherence to Trust policies; maintain skills through CPD.
* Train and supervise junior medical staff and participate in teaching activities.
* Provide cover for colleagues in exceptional circumstances and assist the Ambulance Service in major incidents when required.
* Contribute to development of emergency treatment protocols and participate in clinical governance, audits, and appraisal processes.
* Supervise and support Doctors and Advanced Clinical Practitioners; ensure personal professional development and data protection compliance.
* Register with the Royal College of Emergency Medicine for CPD.
Qualifications
* Essential: MRCEM or equivalent; Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practise
* Desirable: Relevant higher degree
Experience & Attributes
* Essential: 4 years postgraduate experience including 2 years in Emergency Medicine; demonstrated high-level clinical competence across Emergency Medicine.
* Desirable: Understanding current issues in Emergency Medicine and NHS; management course attendance; leadership abilities across professions.
Teaching & Training
* Essential: Experience and enthusiasm for postgraduate clinical teaching of doctors and non-medical staff.
* Desirable: Academic publications; formal teaching qualifications or courses.
Audit, Research & Skills
* Essential: Knowledge of audit principles and participation in audit projects.
* Desirable: Critical appraisal skills and knowledge of research methodologies.
Disposition & General
* Essential: Good communication, teamwork, ability to work under pressure, prioritisation and flexible approach to delivering care.
* Desirable: Evidence of continual learning, innovation, and proficiency with standard IT tools.
Other Requirements
* Eligibility to work in the UK; ability to work at multiple locations within the Trust; enhanced DBS disclosure; EPP clearance where required.
* Certificate of Sponsorship may be considered for suitably eligible applicants.
