Senior Tutor
40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Start Date: 1st September 2025
Salary Range (FTE) : £34,712 to £39,284 per annum
Based at Glasshouse College, Stourbridge
Glasshouse College reflects the history of the Stourbridge glassmaking district. The local traditions of glassblowing, etching and engraving provide a rich stimulus for the college’s signature craft. Our students also attend other craft workshops including green woodwork, blacksmithing and textiles. Glasshouse College is part of Ruskin Mill Trust.
Established in 1984, Ruskin Mill Trust is an educational charity that operates in England, Scotland and Wales.
We offer exciting outdoor learning environments, utilising practical land and craft activities to support the development of work and life skills in young people with autistic spectrum conditions and other learning differences.Our research-led method,Practical Skills Therapeutic Education, is inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner, John Ruskin and William Morris. Working with hand, head, heart and place, Ruskin Mill Trust helps individuals to re-imagine their potential.
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Tutor to undertake the quality assurance of the College’s day to day provision, by carrying out regular and comprehensive observations of all Tutors in line with the Trust Quality Assurance processes and protocol.
Applicants will have experience of teaching learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and must possess a high degree of personal resilience and emotional intelligence. To be shortlisted for interview, applicants must hold a recognised teaching qualification. Experience of line management is a desirable attribute for this role.
Main Duties:
* To be the first line manager for a group of tutors.
* To work closely with the Senior Management Team to quality assure session delivery both within the local provision and as required across the Trust.
* To work closely with the Tutors to develop schemes of work and plan sessions accordingly in order to interconnect craft activities throughout the provision.
* To ensure that Tutors are working closely with the Learning Assistants and Support Workers in order to both session plan in accordance to the three stage process as well as embed PSTE within their methodological delivery;
* To work closely with the Senior Management Team to ensure that Tutors adhere to a robust level of communication to the relevant areas of the college in order to effectively progress student towards their outcomes.
* To undertake teaching duties in a specified craft and to deliver training as required.
