Role overview
A growing engineering and design consultancy operating within the UK water sector is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure programmes. This role offers the opportunity to lead multidisciplinary teams across major wastewater and sewage treatment projects, working closely with utility clients, contractors, and delivery partners throughout the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the successful delivery of wastewater and sewage treatment projects
* Manage multidisciplinary project teams including consultants, contractors, suppliers, and client stakeholders
* Coordinate activities across design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover stages
* Develop and maintain project programmes, schedules, and delivery plans
* Monitor project performance, risks, and change management activities
* Manage project budgets, cost forecasting, reporting, and commercial controls
* Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation, CDM Regulations, and environmental standards
* Support procurement activities including tender reviews and contractor management
* Chair project progress meetings and provide updates to senior stakeholders and clientsMaintain accurate project documentation and technical records
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, regulators, and delivery partners
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned processes
Essential skills
* 5-10 years' project management experience within the water or wastewater sector
* Proven experience delivering sewage treatment and wastewater treatment projects
* Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes, pumping stations, pipelines and associated infrastructure
* Experience managing projects through the full project lifecycle
* Knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial management principles
* Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Understanding of UK health & safety legislation and CDM Regulations
* Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable skills
* Experience working with UK water utilities
* Chartered status or working toward chartership
* PRINCE2, APM PMQ, or PMP qualification
* Experience within AMP programmes
* Knowledge of ICA, MEICA, or civil infrastructure delivery
