We are recruiting for a new M&E Quantity Surveyor to join the team at JCA Engineering. The successful candidate will take full financial and commercial responsibility for a portfolio of contracts, ensuring cost-effective delivery of contracted and additional services within legislative and contractual obligations. The role also involves providing proactive financial support to delivery teams, including processing monthly valuations, applications, forecasts, and variations.
What will you be doing?
You will generate studies to estimate materials, time, and labour costs pre- and post-contract, report opportunities to clients, and support the estimating team with tendering and quoting. Responsibilities include:
* Integrating with the estimating team to achieve accurate prime costs and smooth contract transitions, including attending client meetings and site visits.
* Preparing, negotiating, analyzing, and reporting on supply chain costs for tenders and contracts.
* Identifying, analyzing, and responding to commercial risks.
* Ensuring contract terms are in place and managing contract works accordingly.
* Closing out additional work opportunities financially within the month of completion.
* Managing quantity surveying teams, if applicable, ensuring resource efficiency.
* Managing supply chain and sub-contractor contracts from enquiry through to completion.
* Identifying change requirements and opportunities to maximize revenue and mitigate risks.
* Reporting on contract performance according to company KPIs.
* Managing financial applications, job costing, and forecasting processes for contracts.
What are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the Mechanical and Electrical industry, preferably within a Data Centre environment. You should be capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating leadership and management skills consistent with JCA's brand image. Additionally, you should have:
* Quantity Surveying and/or Construction/Engineering qualification (HND or Degree level)
* MRICS accreditation
* CSCS card relevant to the role
* Excellent analytical skills and experience with Document Management Systems, SharePoint, Dynamics CRM, Asta Powerproject, Excel, Anaplan, or similar packages
* Knowledge of statutory requirements, methods, contract types, and processes in construction and engineering
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills
