Senior
Environmental Consultant
to join our team near
Cambridge, UK.
RSK Raw offers multi-disciplinary environmental protection and risk reduction services to a wide range of industries and clients across the UK, and specialises in the delivery of spill response, contamination investigation, and remediation projects.
The role:
This diverse role offers a rewarding mix of desk-based and fieldwork responsibilities, exposure to a wide range of projects, and the chance to have a positive impact on the environment and individuals impacted by pollution events and contamination.
We are looking for a motivated individual to deliver pollution response, contamination investigation and remediation projects for our varied client base, to provide technical and project management support and advice to our team, and to develop an engaging role in the environmental risk management sector.
Key responsibilities:
* Pro-active assessment of pollution risks and the application of a variety of techniques for containing and recovering contaminants
* Managing rapid response to environmental / pollution incidents in a variety of urban and rural settings
* Managing and delivering Phase I and Phase II site investigations and remediation schemes
* Organising, managing, and supervising site works
* Managing subcontractors, ensuring financial, quality, and health and safety control
* Preparing and reviewing cost proposals / tenders, factual and interpretative reports and Health and Safety documentation, including method statements, risk assessments and site records
* Financial and contract control of allocated projects
* Pro-active client management, maintaining good communication throughout the lifecycle of a project, being aware of the client's needs and providing regular progress reports and confirming any variances as they arise
Additional information:
* We operate a 24/7 response service for our clients - you may be required to work out of normal operating hours, for which you will be compensated
* Although the role is focussed in the East of England, you will support projects across the region and there will be a need for some travel to cover the needs of the business throughout England, Scotland, and Wales. There may be the occasional need to stay away from home
* Incident response training and development opportunities will be provided
* There are opportunities available for collaborative working with other emergency response and remediation businesses within the RSK Group
Key skills and experience:
* At least 5 years' relevant industry experience across different projects, sites and environments
* Project management experience including commercial / financial awareness relating to projects and overheads
* Strong technical understanding of environmental risk management, ground investigation or similar
* Excellent health and safety awareness
* Degree level qualification in a science / environment / land related subject
* A flexible attitude to work, with enthusiasm and drive to deliver the role
* The ability to work as an effective member of a team and on your own initiative
* Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
* Full UK / EC driving licence (essential)
