Salary: £25,766-£29,014 per year
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

About The Role

The successful applicant will lead and inspire the next generation of music talent through their planning and delivery of the music curriculum. The role includes the marking and assessment of student projects, setting high expectations and motivating our students to be the best that they can be. You will be a role model, providing our students with innovative, practical and employment-led training.
You will collaborate with others to share best practices and ensure that our learners get the highest quality experience. You will work amongst experienced, passionate tutors as well as within a support service provided by our Central Team. About You

As Course Leader for Music Production at our Plymouth campus you will lead and inspire the next generation of music technologists and producers. You will have full responsibility for guiding the delivery of a high-quality, industry-relevant music production programme, ensuring that students engage, develop technical proficiency and progress to employment or further study. You will work closely with other tutors, support staff and external partners to deliver creative, practical and assessment-led provision, and you will actively contribute to the strategic development of the music provision.


Key Responsibilities

* Leading recording sessions, supervising students in the studio environment and ensuring professional standards of production, mixing and mastering across multiple genres.
* Using your confidence and knowledge of analogue recording consoles to facilitate hands‑on learning and real‑world studio workflows.
* Demonstrating and coaching high‑level understanding of recording, mixing, mastering and production techniques.
* Leading technical sessions using industry‑standard software, with an in‑depth working knowledge of Logic Pro X, guiding students of all abilities through DAW‑based workflows, creative production and sound design.
* Planning, designing and delivering inspiring lessons and schemes of work for the Music Production curriculum, ensuring relevance to current industry practices.
* Effectively managing cohorts of learners, monitoring student progress, attendance and achievement, and providing one‑to‑one reviews and support interventions.
* Collaborating with colleagues across the college to share best practice, professional development and curriculum enhancement, maintaining awareness of current music‑technology, hardware and software trends.


Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience

* Proven ability to confidently lead recording sessions, with previous experience doing so in a professional environment, preferably in an educational studio context.
* Strong working knowledge and confidence in the use of analogue recording consoles, studio hardware to undertake recording, mixing, mastering and production across multiple genres.
* In‑depth expert knowledge of Logic Pro X; able to demonstrate advanced techniques, customise workflows and teach users to compose and produce music, from beginner through to advanced levels.
* Confidence and capability to lead tech‑based sessions and teach students of all abilities—able to adapt pedagogical approach, manage diverse learner needs and deliver inclusive learning.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills to manage delivery of high‑quality lessons and schemes of work, and to organise internal and external examination/assessment‑related administration including coursework moderation, internal verification and assessment processes.
* Performance and technology skills: hands‑on experience in Music Production, Performance (band or ensemble context), Electronic Music Production and Studio Technology.
