Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Safeguarding Lead to join our Adult Social Care directorate and play a pivotal role in strengthening safeguarding practice, governance, and partnership working across Southampton. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the Council fulfils its statutory safeguarding duties, driving improvement in safeguarding pathways, workforce confidence, and the quality of our safeguarding responses. The postholder will act as ASC’s senior lead within the Southampton Safeguarding Adults Partnership, shaping system-wide safeguarding arrangements in line with our Adult Social Care Strategy 2024–2029.
Responsibilities
* Leading ASC’s strategic approach to safeguarding, representing the directorate at multi-agency boards and subgroups.
* Strengthening safeguarding governance, assurance, data quality and decision-making.
* Embedding high-quality safeguarding practice through audit, learning, and workforce development.
* Leading policy, pathway and procedural improvements aligned to Care Act duties, MSP, MCA and CQC expectations.
* Driving a positive safeguarding culture rooted in personalised care, prevention, professional curiosity and partnership working.

Salary: The salary band for this role is £52,413 - £58,865. The starting salary is £52,413 with annual progression through the salary bands.
