Role Purpose
The Application Architect is the design authority for the Oracle Fusion implementation, responsible for owning, challenging, and signing off the Fusion application design.
Key Responsibilities
Design Authority & Assurance
Own the end-to-end Oracle Fusion application design
Act as final design sign-off authority across all Fusion modules
Review, challenge, and approve SI (IBM) solution designs
Ensure designs meet functional, technical, and non-functional requirements
Prevent over-customisation and unnecessary complexity
SI & Vendor Challenge
Provide credible, evidence-based challenge to SI architects
Validate design assumptions, estimates, and sequencing
Ensure Oracle best practice is applied appropriately
Escalate design risks and concerns early
Architecture Alignment
Ensure Fusion design aligns with:
Enterprise architecture principles
Integration and data strategies
Security and environment standards
Work closely with Data, Integration, and Security leads
Support architectural decisions through later delivery waves
Programme Support
Work closely with the Technology Programme Manager
Provide architectural input into planning, risk, and dependencies
Support design governance forums and decision boards
Essential
Required Experience
Deep, hands-on Oracle Fusion application architecture experience
Strong knowledge across Fusion modules (HCM, Payroll, Procurement)
Experience acting as design authority on large ERP / Fusion programmes
Proven ability to challenge SI solution designs
Experience working through design and early delivery phases
Desirable
Experience of multi-wave Fusion implementations
Experience in complex enterprise environments
Prior exposure to IBM or Tier-1 SI delivery models
