Peer Community Facilitator (15 hours per week) Fixed term until 31st October 2026 (potential one‑year extension) About the Service User and Lived Experience Engagement Project The Service User & Lived Experience (SULE) Project brings lived experience into the heart of Norfolk’s drug and alcohol treatment system. The project gathers insights from people in treatment, those not yet accessing services, as well as their families and carers to help inform future service delivery. As part of this work, we are building a strong, inclusive Peer‑Led Recovery Community across Norfolk. This community offers peer‑led activities, connection, mutual support and signposting, all shaped by people with lived experience. It is designed to provide safe, trauma‑informed spaces where individuals can develop confidence, build relationships and influence the delivery of Drug & Alcohol services in Norfolk. About the Role In this role, you will draw on your own recovery journey to help nurture and grow a vibrant, lived‑experience‑led recovery community. You will contribute to creating safe, inclusive and trauma‑informed environments where individuals feel supported and empowered. By championing the voice of lived experience, you will play a key part in shaping and improving how Drug & Alcohol services are developed and delivered across Norfolk. Key Responsibilities · Lead on the development and facilitation of lived experience and community groups in collaboration with other Peer Community Facilitators and volunteers, with support from the Peer Research Co-ordinator · Attend meetings with relevant partners to ensure the voice of lived experience is represented to influence the design, delivery and evaluation of Norfolk's drug and alcohol services · Support the development of peer networks across Norfolk alongside the Peer Research Co-ordinator · Engage with local organisations, in addition to Together services, to promote opportunities for people with lived experience to share their experiences · To support on data collection, including collating and recording of focus and expert group data as required · Facilitate structured peer support groups in community hubs and online ensuring we create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and a non-judgmental environment. · Work closely with Together’s Service User Leadership Team to support the implementation of good practice for all service user led projects · To work consistently within Together’s service user leadership principles and organisational values · Keep up to date with service user leadership on Together’s intranet to ensure consistency in practice and use of resources · Undertake administrative duties using relevant IT equipment as required · Undertake appropriate training relevant to your role · Commitment to working in accordance with Together’s Policies and Procedures, including Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Confidentiality and Safeguarding · Willing to travel within the county of Norfolk to meet with service users, promote the project and collaborate with colleagues · Willing to work flexibly, including some occasional evening and weekend working Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Essential: 1. Personal lived experience of substance misuse, stable within their own recovery. 2. Passionate about and commitment to the empowerment of people who have lived experience of substance misuse 3. Experience of developing and facilitating service user led or co-production projects 4. Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal tactfully and sensitively with a range of people who use/have used legal and illicit substances 5. Experience of facilitating peer support or community groups, including confidence supporting others to build skills to participate 6. Ability to develop, maintain and facilitate positive working relationships with service users, family and carers, those in peer roles, Together staff and health professionals 7. Ability to work as part of a team as well as use own initiative, prioritise work and meet deadlines 8. Excellent administration and time management skills, with good computer literacy skills, and proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite 9. Ability to drive and use car for work is essential, due to the rural reach of the project 10. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and uphold safeguarding protocols 11. Understanding and application of trauma informed practice. Desirable: 12. Experience of attending strategic meetings to inform and influence 13. Experience of engaging with local communities around project development 14. Knowledge of local services and recovery pathways 15. Knowledge and understanding of Recovery Communities and Lived Experience Recovery Organisations
