Sports Coach (PRU Setting)

Salary: £90 – £120 per day

A specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Hartlepool is looking to appoint a resilient and proactive Sports Coach to join their dedicated team. This Sports Coach role will involve working with pupils who are unable to access mainstream education, supporting them through structured physical activity and positive engagement.
The successful Sports Coach will use sport as a tool to build trust, improve behaviour, and develop confidence in young people. This role is ideal for a Sports Coach who is calm, consistent, and passionate about making a difference in an alternative provision setting.

Key Responsibilities of the Sports Coach:
* Deliver structured and engaging sports sessions tailored to pupils’ needs.
* Use sport and outdoor activities to promote teamwork and resilience.
* Support pupils who may present with behaviours that are challenging.
* Build strong, professional relationships with learners.
* Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and emotional regulation.
* Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support reintegration pathways.
* Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Requirements for the Sports Coach:
* Previous experience working as a Sports Coach in a PRU, alternative provision, or similar setting (desirable).
* Experience managing behaviours that are challenging.
* Strong communication and de-escalation skills.
* A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
* Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
* Right to work in the UK.
