Specialty Doctor in Geriatric Medicine
Applications are invited for the post of Specialty Doctor in Eldercare at Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust. The role supports the expansion of the Older Person’s Service across Cornwall, working within the Cornwall Frailty Pathway and Stroke Services. The post holder will provide clinical cover for in-patient wards and work as an integral part of the Front Door Frailty Team in Medical Rapid Assessment and Triage (MRATs) and the Emergency Department.
Key responsibilities include:
* Deliver clinical care for a range of needs from simple rehabilitation to higher acuity and dependency.
* Support advanced care planning and care pathways for patients, carers and families.
* Provide clinical support, leadership and supervision to junior medical staff.
* Collaborate with acute geriatrician teams, primary and community locality teams.
* Take an active role in teaching; previous trainer status is highly desirable.
Required qualifications and skills:
* Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams.
* Experience in geriatric medicine or related specialty preferred.
* Demonstrated ability to work in acute and community settings.
* Supervision and teaching experience desirable.
