Overview
We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Assembly Technician to join a specialist manufacturing company based near Melksham, Wiltshire.
This role involves a mixture of Mechanical and Electrical assembly work, contributing to the build and conversion of bespoke commercial vehicle bodies.
Responsibilities
Mechanical Assembly Duties
* Install insulated panels into vehicle bodies with precision and attention to sealing quality.
* Cut and shape materials (metal, plastic, wood) using hand and bench tools.
* Apply silicone and gel sealants to floors, walls, and roofs.
* Assemble mechanical components such as trims, flooring, and brackets.
Electrical Assembly Duties
* Wire and terminate lighting, switches, and tail lift systems (low-voltage).
* Read and work from basic electrical diagrams and wiring schematics.
* Use electrical tools safely to carry out installations and checks.
General Workshop Responsibilities
* Work from engineering drawings and works orders to meet build specifications.
* Maintain a tidy and safe working area in line with health and safety expectations.
* Support other shop floor or ad hoc tasks as required by the production team.
Qualifications
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical work instructions.
* Confident using hand tools, bench saws, drills, and measuring equipment.
* Experience working safely with both mechanical and electrical assemblies.
* Strong understanding of health & safety protocols in a workshop or manufacturing setting.
* Flexibility to adapt to varying tasks and production priorities.
* Reliable personal transport to access the site.
Salary & Benefits
Hourly Rate: Up to 15.60 per hour ( 36,504 per annum)
Hours: 45 hours per week
* Monday-Thursday: 07:00-17:00
* Friday: 07:00-14:30
Bonuses: Available
