We are seeking a high-calibre Business Development Director to lead our growth within the UK environmental engineering sector. You will be responsible for identifying high-value opportunities in areas such as water treatment, decarbonisation, and sustainable infrastructure, bridging the gap between complex engineering solutions and strategic client needs. This role will be field-based with travel requirements to our Head Office in Basildon. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute a national business development strategy to achieve ambitious revenue and EBITDA targets. Lead and grow major client accounts like Government Departments, Environmental Project Developer. Oversee the creation of compelling technical proposals, identifying subject matter experts and managing complex bid budgets. Mentor and scale a high-performing business development and customer success team. Lead high-value contract negotiations and renewals to ensure favourable commercial terms. Develop a network and promote the business (eg. Attend trade shows and/or industry conferences). Requirements & Qualifications 15 years of proven success in B2B sales or strategic business development within environmental consultancy or engineering. Bachelor’s degree or above in Business, Engineering, or a related environmental field. Understanding of UK environmental regulations, waste management, or large-scale infrastructure projects. Demonstrated ability to influence at C-suite level and lead multi-disciplinary teams. Excellent influencing, communication and strong negotiation skills with an ability to demonstrate appropriate business acumen and commercial awareness. Strong financial literacy with experience in pipeline forecasting and managing profit drivers. Willingness to travel across the UK for client meetings and industry events. Candidate have less experience will be considered as Business Development Manager.
