JOB TITLE: Research Associate
LOCATION: Oxford
CONTRACT – 12 months
SALARY: £31,000
SRG is currently working with a biotech company seeking a Research Associate to join their team.
Our client aims to create the next generation of antibody therapeutics to improve outcomes for patients with life-changing conditions.
Role overview
The successful candidate will primarily conduct laboratory experiments using cell culture, flow cytometry, ELISA, imaging, and various assay techniques to support antibody screening as a key team member.
The ideal applicant is organized, detail-oriented, and efficient. While experience with a range of techniques is preferred, training will be provided.
Key responsibilities
* Bring energy, enthusiasm, and positivity to the company
* Maintain cell cultures
* Perform techniques such as flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, and ELISA
* Work as a key member of the discovery team
* Conduct critical laboratory experiments, analyze data, and contribute to strategic decisions
* Stay updated with developments in drug discovery technologies
* Manage day-to-day laboratory operations, including maintaining a safe environment and re-ordering consumables
* Establish and maintain quality sample archives
* Gather, analyze, and present data to the team and organization
* Review laboratory data critically and impartially
* Maintain accurate laboratory records
Applicant’s required attributes
* A BSc degree at 2:1 level or higher with research experience, or an MSc/MRes or higher in relevant fields such as Biology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Cell Biology, Immunology, or Natural Sciences
* Enthusiasm and commitment to drug discovery and development research
* Recent proven experience in:
- Mammalian cell culture
- Cell biology techniques (e.g., flow cytometry, ELISA, fluorescence microscopy)
* Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong attention to detail and efficiency
* Ability to build effective working relationships
* Laboratory method development experience
* Flexibility to work additional hours when needed
* Proven written and oral communication skills
* Problem-solving abilities
* Strong IT skills
Desirable skills
* Experience in running biological assays on primary cells and cell lines
* Good knowledge of statistics
