This will be annex 21 training rate for 12 months (75% top of the band) until training is complete.
Our BreastUnit delivers high-quality diagnostic breast imaging for both the NHS BreastScreening Programme and the symptomatic breast service, working closely with amultidisciplinary team to provide safe, timely, and patient-centred care. Inthis role, you will independently carry out the full range of mammographicprocedures, offer clinical guidance to colleagues, and contribute to ongoingservice development. You will also have opportunities to engage in audit,training, and multidisciplinary meetings, ensuring our patients receive thevery best standards of care.
We arelooking for a qualified Mammographer with a Certificate of Competence inMammography and significant clinical experience. You will have strongcommunication and interpersonal skills, work confidently both independently andas part of a team, and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professionaldevelopment.

Main duties of the job
The band6 Mammographer will play a key role in delivering a high-quality, efficientbreast screening and diagnostic imaging service within the Breast Unit. Thepostholder will perform the full range of mammographic proceduresindependently, applying professional judgement and technical expertise toproduce accurate diagnostic images while maintaining the highest standards ofpatient care and dignity. They will provide clear explanations to patients,assess clinical needs, adapt techniques to individual circumstances, and giveprovisional reports on screening mammograms in line with established protocols.
The rolealso includes supporting and guiding colleagues, supervising radiographers,students and assistants, and contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings.The postholder will assist the Superintendent Radiographer with operationalefficiency, clinical audits, and service improvement initiatives, ensuringcompliance with clinical governance, safety standards, and radiation protectionlegislation.

The successful candidatewill champion continuous improvement, maintain CPD, and actively support theTrusts values of respect, collaboration, and patient-centred care, ensuringthe service continues to meet the needs of both screening and symptomaticpatients.
