RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DATA SCIENTIST A unique opportunity to embed into an operational support team as a data scientist. This isn't a standard back-office project - this is a chance to embed in an operational support team and make a tangible difference. The role involves a mix of quick-turnaround support to live operational planning and longer-term capability development. It’s an opportunity to get involved in some of the most interesting work happening across government. The candidate will be joining a very experienced and collaborative on-site team (46 years combined experience in data analysis support to operations), so it’s a great place for someone to develop. The role requires 5 days a week attendance on site in the Poole area. It is likely to also include international and UK travel. The post will last until the end of FY25/26, with an extension to placement likely, but not guaranteed SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE DATA SCIENTIST Minimum 2 years experience in applying data science approaches in Defence. Relevant STEM qualification. OSINT experience. Expertise in; python, geospatial data processing, open source and commercial data, web application design, data engineering. Active DV clearance.
