We are seeking an experienced Senior Agent to lead the delivery of a major portal building on the HS2 project at Chipping Warden. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and proven experience in Fibre Reinforced Concrete (FRC) works. The Senior Agent will have full responsibility for site operations, safety, programme, and quality, ensuring the works are delivered in line with HS2 standards and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Take overall responsibility for the safe and successful delivery of the portal building works
Lead and manage site teams including Section Engineers, Site Engineers, Supervisors, and subcontractors
Plan, coordinate, and manage construction activities in line with programme milestones
Ensure full compliance with HS2 health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
Manage and oversee FRC concrete works, including placement, curing, quality control, and compliance with specification
Review and manage construction methodologies, RAMS, ITPs, and permits
Liaise with HS2 representatives, designers, planners, and supply chain partners
Monitor progress, productivity, and costs, taking corrective action where required
Manage temporary works, lifting operations, and logistics associated with the portal structure
Ensure accurate reporting of progress, risks, and opportunities to senior management
Lead inspections, testing, and handover documentation for completed works

Portal building and structural concrete works
Fibre Reinforced Concrete (FRC) slabs and structural elements
Reinforced concrete structures and formwork systems
Earthworks and interfaces with tunnelling or civils works
Temporary works and sequencing of complex construction activities
Requirements & Qualifications
Significant experience in a Senior Agent or Agent role on major civil infrastructure projects
Proven experience delivering FRC concrete works (essential)
Strong background in structural and reinforced concrete construction
Experience working on HS2 or similar large-scale infrastructure projects (preferred)
SMSTS (essential)
CSCS card (Black or Gold)
Temporary Works Coordinator (desirable)
HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (preferred)
