Job Title: Consultant Psychiatrist in Old Age Psychiatry - Ashford
Join our dedicated team as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Old Age Psychiatry based in Ashford. You will work alongside a professional and supportive multidisciplinary team and collaborate with a CMHT Consultant colleague.
About the Service: Ashford CMHSOP provides comprehensive psychiatric assessment and treatment for individuals over 65 in Ashford, Tenterden, and surrounding villages. Services include assessment, diagnosis, therapy, psychological assessments, and treatments.
Service Features: The team offers 21 initial assessment slots weekly, with appointments in Ashford and Tenterden, home visits, and care home liaison assessments.
Candidate Requirements: Applicants should have MRCPsych or equivalent, be on or within six months of inclusion on the Specialist Register, fully GMC registered, with Approved Clinician status, and S12 approval under the Mental Health Act (or achieve this within 3 months).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide psychiatric care to patients referred to Ashford CMHSOP and offer senior medical leadership within the multidisciplinary team.
2. Conduct MCA and MHA assessments, participate in complex case discussions, CPA and 117 reviews, and be available for urgent clinical issues.
3. Attend daily RED Board and referral triage meetings, weekly clinical meetings, monthly complex case discussions, and governance meetings.
4. Contribute to team meetings, including performance and business meetings, and supervise complex cases, providing medical guidance to team members.
5. Support the team in maintaining MSNAP accreditation for the Memory Assessment Service.
