About the Product Technologist role: As our Product Technologist, you will support the business in recommending, developing, implementing, and managing operational quality plans that will deliver safety, quality and Customer satisfaction of products sold by Furniture Village. The Product Technologist will drive work streams with suppliers in setting priorities and managing continuous improvement activity. In conjunction with this the Product Technologist will compile and deliver business information to assist in improving the decisions of the Buying department, specifically within: Product Development Product Performance Supplier Management Product Compliance Key Responsibilities of our Product Technologist: People In conjunction with your line manager you are responsible for: Agreeing clear objectives with your line manager and actively contributing and maintaining a personal development plan to achieve future development opportunities. Translating and communicating quality strategy and vision into work streams to meet individual and business objectives. Becoming a connected leader; acting as liaison point with internal stakeholders and external suppliers. Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with all external service and product providers. Operations You are responsible for: Ensuring adherence to all Furniture Village and legal requirements for your areas of responsibility by defining technical specification requirements through to compilation of product technical files. Ensuring all new supplier and manufacturing sites are formally visited for pre-approval recommendation. Products are only sourced from suppliers that have been technically and socially approved. Engaging and involving the Technical team, Buying teams, Suppliers and other key stakeholders at the right time to enable the effective delivery of commercial targets. Conducting regular quality & safety reviews and risk assessments on concept samples and designs, to include model, product and packaging / assembly instructions in the development process. Key skills and attributes we are looking for in our Product Technologist: Fully accountable and focused on meeting current objectives and strives to improve areas both within and outside of their immediate responsibilities. Is able to self-motivate and takes opportunities to improve the perception of QA within the NDC and wider business. Can demonstrate an ability to interpret data and translate into recommendations for improvement or change. Is able to effectively prioritise their workload. Regularly demonstrates the ability to analyse and assess likely outcomes, evaluate options and decide on an appropriate course of action quickly in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrates clear thinking and the ability to reason to make sound judgements. Demonstrates a positive approach to change. Shows awareness of the external environment, constantly strives for continuous improvement within the business. Has great communication skills both written and verbal. Can produce concise reports and communicate effectively via email. Can inspire and influence both individuals and cross-functional teams to meet business objectives.
