About the Role As Aquatics Manager, you will oversee the wet-side operations of the centre, ensuring the highest standards of safety, service, and staff performance. You will manage lifeguarding teams, coordinate poolside timetables and events, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. You will also act as a Duty Manager, responsible for the day-to-day running of the leisure centre, including opening and closing the facility as a key holder. With operating hours between 6:00am and 10:00pm, some flexibility in working hours will be required. Key Responsibilities Lead, motivate, and manage lifeguarding and aquatics staff, including recruitment, training, and appraisals. Ensure NPLQ CPD attendance and maintain accurate compliance records. Deliver a comprehensive swim programme to meet the needs of the local community. Coordinate swimming timetables, events, school holiday activities, and galas. Oversee pool plant operations, ensuring all daily, weekly, and monthly checks are carried out. Manage health & safety procedures, safeguarding concerns, and incident reporting. Drive and achieve financial targets, KPIs, and customer satisfaction goals. Ensure excellent customer experience by maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. What We're Looking For National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) – essential. First Aid at Work certification – essential. Pool Plant Operator Qualification – desirable (or willingness to obtain). Previous experience in managing wet-side operations within a leisure environment. Proven supervisory or management experience, with the ability to motivate and lead a team. Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations in a leisure or aquatics setting. Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
