Job summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Chemical Pathologist to join our team, providing expert diagnostic support and delivering exceptional patient care.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of highly skilled Consultant Chemical Pathologists and lead the services offered by the specialty.
The post is for 10 Programmed Activities (PAs): 8 clinical Direct Clinical Care (DCC) sessions, including two laboratory sessions, and 2 supporting programmed activities (SPAs).
The department of Metabolic Medicine is based at the Edward building (4th floor) at the new Royal Liverpool Hospital site. The laboratory services at Royal Liverpool Hospital merged with those at Aintree Hospital in 2012 to form Liverpool Clinical Laboratories (LCL).
Main Duties
* To take the lead in managing and developing the Bone metabolic service.
* To share responsibility at consultant level in the metabolic bone disease and lipid outpatient clinics.
* To provide a clinical advisory service for Clinical Biochemistry in the Blood Sciences Department of Liverpool Clinical Laboratories (LCL).
* To participate in multidisciplinary meetings related to metabolic medicine.
* To lead the clinical governance meetings for the specialty.
* Providing consultant level clinical and training supervision of medical and other staff associated with the unit.
* To help develop and maintain multidisciplinary clinical networks and care pathways appropriate to the evolving need of patients.

Person Specification
Essential qualifications: MB ChB or equivalent medical qualification, FRCPath or equivalent, MRCP or equivalent, and full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council.
Desirable qualifications: MD or PhD.
Language skills: Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English.
