The role:
To work as part of the Catering Team, assisting in all aspects of food preparation, delivery, service, wash up and cleaning duties relating to the provision of catering services to patients, staff, visitors and for functions.

Key responsibilities:
1. Supporting the delivery of catering services to patients, staff, visitors and for functions within the hospital.
2. Regeneration of patients meals wither centrally or at ward level.
3. Plating patient meals at the point of service as advised by nursing staff.
4. Cleaning and wash-up of all equipment, machinery, and crockery associated with catering services.
5. Assist food production staff with the basic preparation of meals.
6. Undertake picking & packing of patient meal components.
7. Support the overall delivery of patient meals to ward level.
8. Comply with Food Hygiene Regulations with regard to food service.
9. Comply with HACCP system in relation to equipment cleaning and departmental cleanliness.
10. Maintain high personal hygiene standards.
11. Comply with Health and Safety regulations and adhere to manual handling/risk assessment/fire safety training.
12. Report faulty equipment.
13. Operate cash register at point of service and cash handling.
14. Setting up, clearing and cleaning of the staff dining room for service.
15. Record keeping associated with catering services, e.g. HACCP and temperature control, receipt and storage of supplies.
16. Store goods correctly and use stock on a rotational basis.
17. Cleaning and replenishment of vending machines.
18. Comply with all statutory and Sector procedures.
19. Provide guidance to new members of staff relating to work practices.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
20. Knowledge of all aspects of catering services although training will be provided to new starts.
21. Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate (training provided).
22. Meals regeneration and service (training provided).
23. Good communication and customer care skills.
24. Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH (training provided).
25. Knowledge of Lifting & Handling (training provided).
26. Knowledge of Infection Control practices (training provided).
27. Able to work under pressure.
28. Ability to be flexible and adaptable.
