Vale of Leven General Hospital

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. The role:

Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).

Your duties will include: working within the kitchen and ward areas to provide an efficient, high quality catering service to patients, staff, and visitors. This includes taking patients food orders, working alongside, NHS staff, serving food at ward level, keeping all areas of the kitchen clean, replenishing supplies. There will be the use of economic and safe use of cleaning agents, following manufacturers recommended instructions. In this role you will be required to use electrical equipment. i.e Burlodge Regen Oven and, Dishwasher, You are required to wear protective clothing as supplied by the Department and complete all daily/weekly sign off sheets for areas of work including HACCP paperwork There is the requirement for you have a flexible approach to daily routine.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

1. Location based in Vale of Leven Hospital
2. Permanent Contract
3. Part-time position (10.56 hours per week)
4. The shift pattern for this post are Saturdays and Sundays
5. Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours

Key responsibilities:

6. Supporting the delivery of catering services to patients, staff, visitors and for functions within the hospital.
7. Regeneration of patients meals wither centrally or at ward level.
8. Plating patient meals at the point of service as advised by nursing staff.
9. Cleaning and wash-up of all equipment, machinery, and crockery associated with catering services.
10. Assist food production staff with the basic preparation of meals.
11. Undertake picking & packing of patient meal components.
12. Support the overall delivery of patient meals to ward level.
13. Comply with Food Hygiene Regulations with regard to food service.
14. Comply with HACCP system in relation to equipment cleaning and departmental cleanliness.
15. Maintain high personal hygiene standards.
16. Comply with Health and Safety regulations and adhere to manual handling/risk assessment/fire safety training.
17. Report faulty equipment.
18. Operate cash register at point of service and cash handling.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

20. Knowledge of all aspects of catering services although training will be provided to new starts.
21. Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate (training provided).
22. Meals regeneration and service (training provided).
23. Good communication and customer care skills.
24. Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH (training provided).
25. Knowledge of Lifting & Handling (training provided).
26. Knowledge of Infection Control practices (training provided).
27. Able to work under pressure.
28. Ability to be flexible and adaptable.
