Overview
Night Intensive Housing Officer, Permanent, Full-time (Mental Health, Homelessness, Substance Misuse) at BCHA. We are a diverse and growing specialist housing, learning and support provider offering support to customers facing homelessness, domestic abuse, mental health, substance misuse, and related needs.
Responsibilities
* Be the first point of contact overnight, offering a calming and reassuring presence to customers.
* Create a safe and inclusive environment for customers.
* Support customers with practical needs while encouraging self-management and independence.
* De-escalate situations with empathy and professionalism, promoting safety for all.
* Record accurate and timely notes to support joined-up working with the wider support team.
* Work collaboratively with local services, signposting and referring where appropriate.
* Respond with compassion to those in emotional distress or crisis.
* Ensure confidentiality, uphold professional boundaries, and champion dignity at all times.
* Promote community engagement, well-being activities, and life skills that support long-term progress.
Requirements
* You have a positive can-do attitude to achieve best outcomes.
* You want to learn and develop your understanding of homelessness.
* You have lived experience and want to give back to others (if applicable).
* You currently work shifts but are looking for a change of environment.
* You are a student seeking direct work experience to support learning.
* You have completed a college course and are looking to start your career.
* You are a volunteer or relief worker seeking to transition to full-time permanent work.
Location & Benefits
* Location: Plymouth
* Salary: £12.24 per hour
* Hours: full-time – 37.5 hours
* Shifts: Night shifts
