As part of our continuous development, we are expanding our Technology Architecture Department to support, enable and grow our business capabilities. We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to join our team and help guide and deliver Primark’s ambitious business strategy while ensuring alignment with the architecture guidelines and policies. Primark Technology is embarking on a transformation journey to support and enable business strategy, which includes modernising our operating model as well as our retail, supply chain and buying systems.
As a Solution Architect, you will help us define our high-level architecture, design solutions to deliver great business outcomes, meet our longer-term strategy, influence and promote collaboration across platform and domain teams on the solution design, and elaborate the solution and its interfaces in partnership with platform and domain teams.

What You’ll Do
* Design technical solutions that may span multiple workstreams, identify downstream application dependencies, own the solution through to delivery, and understand the wider Primark application estate.
* Develop an evolving and balanced solution architecture for projects, addressing business function needs and aligning with priorities, enterprise principles, standards, and governance, including design trade-offs.
* Identify and re-use components, patterns and techniques and document these for reuse by other projects.
* Establish and direct proof-of-concepts in innovation and make recommendations on technology adoption.
* Work with Security and Information Risk to ensure solutions meet security standards and principles.
* Manage logical to physical design, collaborating with internal and external delivery partners.
* Establish and direct innovation-led proofs of concepts and advise on technology adoption and benefits when required.
* Ensure delivery projects plan for relevant architectural governance and design reviews.
* Develop solution and technical acceptance criteria to ensure the integrity of proposed solutions and communicate to stakeholders.
* Support delivery projects in accounting for solution infrastructure from an operational and supportability perspective, addressing non-functional requirements (SLAs, business continuity, availability, scalability, security).
* Balance functional, service quality and operational management requirements with commercial, business, and technical constraints.
* Share and collaborate on technology solutions with stakeholders and implementation partners to develop in-house skills and retain knowledge.
* Communicate portfolio of content and reusable solutions to suppliers and partners for optimal deployment of their technology and products.
* Support wider technology relationships with technology vendors.
What You’ll Bring
* 2+ years of experience with IT Architecture and System implementation.
* Experience defining application architectures and roadmaps for complex solutions across all architecture layers.
* Background delivering solutions that securely span a complex infrastructure domain.
* Experience with systems development lifecycles, best practices and approaches.
* Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to peers and leadership.
* An appropriate degree, equivalent qualification or experience.

* Experience in an architecture team where solutions align with an overarching strategy.
* Understand how to derive complex solutions for a global business with seamless customer experience across channels, including retail store interactions.
* Provide leadership and guidance to peers and junior team members.
