Mobile Installation Engineer (AC/Heating)
Overview
Role focusing on operating and maintaining building AC/HVAC services, conducting Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive Maintenance, performing diagnostic checks and fault finding, undertaking general maintenance tasks, participating in out-of-hours call-out rota, and ensuring accurate documentation of all work.
Responsibilities
* Perform routine PPM tasks in accordance with the SFG20 framework.
* Carry out reactive maintenance and electrical/air conditioning repairs as required.
* Complete minor new works and required certification.
* Attend site meetings or training as needed.
* Be proactive on site and cooperate with other Mitie disciplines to provide multi-discipline services where required.
* Procure materials and equipment through the Supervisor or Manager to carry out works.
* Be available for out-of-hours works with additional remuneration and be part of a callout rota (1 in 4).
* Utilise mobile technology effectively (smartphone).
* Manage financial procedures and delivery efficiencies; adhere to company and department mission, vision and values.
* Assist the site team in ensuring all statutory and legislative requirements are met and that client operational procedures are adhered to.
* Obtain necessary authorisation for access to restricted areas from the client’s representative and complete risk assessments/worksheets with client authorisation.
* Develop as an AP for the site once training is provided.
What We Are Looking For
* Experience in maintenance, testing and fault finding on HVAC systems and lighting is desirable.
* Refrigeration or air conditioning qualifications (non-F-Gas) such as NVQ 2/3 in Air Conditioning and Small Refrigeration, City & Guilds Refrigeration & Air-conditioning (7189) Level 2/3, or 6090 Level 3; F-Gas Category 1 (City & Guilds 2079/2078 Safe Handling of Refrigerants).
* Time served in an air conditioning service role (not installation), ideally 5+ years.
* Experience with packaged or air handling equipment and split systems; experience with commercial equipment rather than domestic installations.
* Desirable: C&G 236 Part 1 & 2, BS7671 Electrical Regulations, C&G 2391 Electrical inspection and testing; ideally completed through a recognised trade training scheme.
* Good understanding of BMS control as the AC/Chiller interface.
* Ability to undertake maintenance and installation tasks within contract scope; proactive fault diagnosis and repair.
* Strong work-ethic, record-keeping, and prioritisation skills; flexible approach to working hours.
* Professional appearance in uniform/PPE and strong customer service skills.
* Good understanding of health and safety legislation and building statutory compliance.
* Ability to carry tools and equipment by hand up to 20kg and to work at height with vertical access equipment.
* Must be available to join a call-out rota and hold a full UK driving licence; ability to achieve and maintain SC clearance.
